Goal Category Specific Focus What’s the rough goal? NICE goal (Near term, Input based, Controllable, Energising) Medium Term - what would I want to tell someone by December 2024? Long term - what would I want written about me after I’m dead? If this doesn’t make sense, why do I really want to do it? What can I do to make this more fun? Imagine its a week later and I haven't started. What are the reasons? How can I mitigate them?
Body Sleep I want to start sleeping and waking at the same time consistently Every day, use Sleeptown to develop a streak, going from midnight to 8am (using the Shortcuts app to redirect from my alarm to Sleeptown when I enter it, and to Sleeptown at 11:30pm). Track it in Done too. I’m not as much of a night owl anymore, and I have a Sleeptown streak of 100+ - which means I sleep 8 hours every night, from 12am to 8am I was someone who made every effort to take care of themselves, and took time to rest and recharge so they could give more to others. Implement a night time routine. Set my phone up with the Shortcuts app to redirect to a meditation/prayer app at 11:30, maybe put some calming music on to help me relax. - I can’t get myself to get changed and go to sleep because I’m too involved in something else - Ensure that I have that night time routine set up. At 11:30, my phone switches to Insight Timer, where I run a 15 minute wind down timer, listen to the sounds and get ready for bed. When that closes, SleepTown opens and I continue my streak. When that closes, Daylio opens, and I do some Daylio reviewing before bed. Then Done opens, I track my goals for the day, use Alarmy for my alarm and go to bed.
Body Diet I want to track what I’m eating so I can eat better Every day, whenever I eat something, make sure to note it down in Daylio. At the end of the day, review Daylio, and track this habit in Done. I tracked what I ate for a full year. I was someone who made every effort to take care of themselves, and meticulously tracked what was having a positive and negative effect on them and their body. Maybe challenge myself in some way, or ask ChatGPT how I can? - Not writing a note in Apple notes when I eat something because I forget (this is very easy to do)

Every week, go over the key deadlines I have set externally and internally. | I posted on LinkedIn, Instagram and Tiktok every week for a year. | I was valued for my contribution to the field of engineering, and became a key person of influence for people aspiring to become astronauts | Establish a content creation routine - something I do each week to help me get in the rhythm of posting. Play some music before I start filming, make sure my setup is easy to put together, | - I don’t film videos

Every week. make sure I spend at least 30 minutes in flight sims, or applying for flying scholarships

Every day, make sure I read a page of Pooley’s book 1, just to start me off. | I did my first full solo flight. | I was a very capable person with a lot of knowledge in specific areas. I was confident and brave. | Flying is already fun - the revision isn’t as much. So for the pooley’s book reading, it could just involve putting some calming sounds on at the same time. | - Not having a set time to do it | Add each goal (daily, weekly, monthly) to my Done app, to track it. | | Growth | Languages | I want to reach conversational fluency in Arabic and Chinese (eventually) | Keep up the Duolingo streak | I maintained my Duolingo streak for another full year. | I was very knowledgeable, and I had the ability to connect with people from all over the world. | No need really, Duolingo is pretty fun | - Not having a set time to do it | Keep the Duolingo widget on my home screen, so regardless of the time, when I open my phone I can see if it’s done yet. | | Growth | Driving | I want to have learnt to drive | Every weekend day, do a practice test with 10 questions from the Driving Theory app | I have a full driver’s license and I passed my test. | I was a capable person, and loved acquiring new skills. | Not much need since the app is new to me right now, and fun to use. If it comes to it, I could put music on. | - I don’t have a set time to do the test on weekends. | Make Saturday 10am the time I do my driving practice tests. | | Family | Calls | I want to be calling my family each week to check up | Every Saturday at 10pm, give a call to family. | I took time to regularly check in with my family every week, get updates from them and see what was going on in their lives. | I was very family oriented, I cared a lot about the people I loved and I made sure to always check in on them. | Maybe check in with something different each day - interesting news, a joke, a challenge etc. or just something I’d like to do with them soon. | - Not having a set time to do it | Make it an action item every Saturday 10pm in the calendar to call family. | | Friends | Deeper Connections | I want to create deeper connections with my friends, spending more time with them on things we enjoy | Organise an event with a few close friends every 2 weeks. Make it low stakes - something like the Treehouse cafe. | I spent time building deeper connections with my friends this year, compared to using it all on work. | I was a great friend, who made time to have deep conversations, give advice, and be the listener for the people who needed it in their lives. | Go somewhere new and fun each time, or do something new. Things like going to play new board games each time. | - I’ve defaulted and haven’t made time for it in my schedule | Every Monday, make it an action item to schedule in some time with a group of friends for the following weekend. |
